JEFF SANDMANN, DIRECTOR
Jeff has produced, shot and directed video for over 25 years, creating coach’s shows, corporate videos, hundreds of commercials, and earning 3 Telly Awards in the process. He’s worked on TV shows such as the docuseries Friday Night Tykes, Netflix’s Dave Chappelle Deep in the Heart of Texas and Ireland’s live music show Other Voices. His work over the past 11 years producing tribute videos for the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame led to a friendship with Saxon Pub owner Joe Ables, and as a musician and music lover, Jeff found in the Saxon a perfect subject for his debut feature-length documentary. Jeff earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences degree from Texas State University, and he spent 21 years working as a Senior Producer for Time Warner Cable. In 2013 he formed his production company, Jumper Productions.
LISA KAY PFANNENSTIEL, PRODUCER
Lisa was named Executive Director of Movability Austin in March 2018. She was previously the Director of Special Events at Austin’s downtown St. David’s Episcopal Church since 2008. During her tenure she created an affordable downtown event center, using the venue’s acoustically advantageous space for live music shows and events. The space has since become a venue for the Austin Film Festival and SXSW music. Lisa graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos with a B.B.A. in Finance. She was formerly the Development Director of Literacy Austin, where she oversaw all aspects of fundraising, including donor relations and solicitations, grant writing, and event planning. Lisa has been a volunteer with the American Cancer Society, the Texas Book Festival and the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
JEFFREY BROWN, PRODUCER
Jeffrey Brown has produced several award-winning narrative features and feature documentaries in Europe, Africa and the USA. He is Co-Producer of No No: A Dockumentary on outspoken 1970s baseball player Dock Ellis, which premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and was released theatrically in 40 cities and on Netflix, Showtime and ESPN. His narrative features include Mamas & Papaswhich won Best Film and Best Script at the 2010 Hamptons IFF, Shut Up and Shoot Me, a Czech-British co-production, which won Best Narrative Feature at the 2007 AFI Dallas IFF, and Academy Award-winning Czech director Jan Sverak’s Kooky,Special Jury Prize Winner at the 2010 Karlovy Vary IFF. His African films include Punk in Africa (New York FF, Rotterdam IFF) and Pirating Pirates (NY African FF) on Somali pirates, nominated for the prestigious Pavel Koutecky Award for global vision in documentary filmmaking. Jeffrey recently finished the feature doc Vinyl Generation (Santa Barbara IFF) on Czech alternative culture, the feature doc Through The Repellent Fence(SXSW 2017), broadcast nationally on PBS in April 2018, and the feature doc Every Night’s A Saturday Night: The Bobby Keys’ Storyon the Rolling Stones’ legendary saxman. Overall, he has produced 25 films, screened at over 100 festivals and released in over 50 countries. Having produced films internationally, he has extensive experience with foreign markets.
NANCY HIGGINS, EDITOR
Nancy works as a freelance editor and producer in Austin, Texas. She directed and edited the documentary, Viva Les Amisin 2005. The film played at various festivals and was included in the “SXSW presents” series on KLRU during the 2006 season. Since then, she has worked as a freelance production coordinator and editor for SXSW, and has edited reality shows like, Shipping Wars and My 600 Pound Life. In 2013-2014, she edited the documentary feature, The Grove, Texas. She is currently directing/editing a feature documentary on the history of hot rods and custom cars, and is working as an editor on the documentary, Nothing Stays the Same.
ANDREW ALDEN MILLER, DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY
Andrew’s cinematography is featured in Barge (2015) and the VR version of The Superlative Light (2016), and his camera work contributed to Through the Repellent Fence(2017), Tower(2016) as well as recent music docs Honky Tonk Heaven (2016) and A Song for You (2016). He’s shot dozens of concerts featuring major-label artists, for broadcast music series such as Live from the Artist’s Den, for docuseries Friday Night Tykes (2014-present) and Friday Night Tykes: Steel Country (2016), and his DP stylings can be seen in the Willie Nelson/Merle Haggard music video It’s All Going to Pot (2015). Andrew began shooting professionally as an Army photojournalist in the Iraq war, earning the Army’s Journalist of the Year award in 2005, and subsequently earned his B.S. in Radio-Television-Film from UT Austin. He currently runs an Austin-based production company, Dox.
